Hallmark Movies

I've been a fan of Hallmark movies for a while and this week I watched a couple of them.

They were:

Finding a Family

and A Walk in My Shoes.

I love Hallmark movies because they're light and easy viewing.
I don't expect amazing quality and I love when they're based on a true story.
These two were both pretty good.
I especially liked Finding a Family because it was based on a true story and stories about determined people are always interesting to me.

Do you have a favourite Hallmark movie?
I don't think I could choose just one myself...

Friday the 13th

So this afternoon I played Lawn Bowles with Kat, Camilla, Zoe, Chelsea, Erica and Fiona...

It was actually fun!
I wasn't very good, but we played barefoot and that made it even more fun.

Then we headed to Kat's house to watch Psycho in the home made cinema.

I was really tired so I missed bits and pieces of it.
Not the famous shower killing scene though! ha ha ha

There were some random and hilarious quotes from it, including:

"I don't know where to start. I guess I should start at the beginning."

"I'm not going in the fruit cellar. I'm not fruity!"

"My hobby is stuffing things."

I seriously lost it a couple of times, just laughing at how random it was!

So Friday the 13th didn't turn out to be all that scary at all!

New Year's Eve...the movie

Saw it tonight and absolutely loved it!
I liked it much better than Valentine's Day.

Take a quick look at the trailer if you haven't seen it

One of the best lines from the movie is:

"What is one thing you would do if you knew you would not fail? Now go out and do it"

This movie reminded me that many things are possible. Not just in the movies, but in our everyday lives.
If we really want something, we have to go out and work hard for it.

It prompted me to keep going with the goals that I have and to find the motivation that will keep me going. I don't want to start strong to only fall short later.

It also added being in New York for New Year's Eve to my bucket list.
A-Mazing!

The Help

Firstly, if you haven't already, watch this trailer. You will not regret it!

Now that you've done that...go and see the movie!
I have been waiting to see this for some time now and am so glad that I was able to tonight.
*last night we attempted, but something broke on the projector*

I hate when people spoil movies by saying all the good/bad things that happen, so fear not, I will not being doing that now.

I will however say that I LOVED this movie! It is an awesome storyline and I am definitely going to go and get the book now. Can't wait!!

My favourite part:

"I is kind
I is smart
I is important"

Definitely won't ever forget them and what it represents.

If you've seen it, did you like it?

Amber's Story

On Saturday Jess and I decide to hire out some weekly movie, which I haven't done in a very long time.
I love real life stories and spotted one called Amber's story.

It both broke my heart and made it soar.

Amber was just 9 years old when she was abducted and murdered.
Her mother Donna fought over the next couple of years to have the AMBER alert system created and maintained in the United States.

Pic
My favourite part of the movie is when Donna puts balloons on her daughters grave and whispers "we did it again baby", after the system helped save another young girl.

What an amazing outcome for such a terrible incident in someone's life.
I'd recommend watching it.

Tuesday night...it all ended

Or did it??

Tuesday I went to see the last Harry Potter film...and I really liked it :D

But...

While most people are mourning the ending of the film series...which kinda ends it all. For me however, I've never read the books.
Now don't freak out!
I know! I know! I'm deprived, I'm insane, I'm...*insert appropriate adjective here*

So I guess for me..I'm only really half way through.
I really need to read the books now so I can fill in all the gaps and help me to appreciate the story more.

My friend Nelly is always telling me to read them...but I couldn't get into the first one. Probably didn't give it the chance it deserved.

So...do you still hate me??

I'm gonna give it a go...and I think I'll even tell you about the journey as I go :D

Sarah's Key

This movie was recommended to me by some friends. So I watched it last night with Kat...and even though we were tired, we couldn't get enough of the movie.

Check out the trailer below

And if you can get access, please watch it. It is amazingly sad and touching. I am going to go and read the book now.

Note: The movie swaps between French (with subtitles) and English.

A little Easter Weekend Retreat

So if you are one of my regulars that takes the time to read the crazy little things I say then you will have noticed I have been missing for almost a week now.

Well that's because...

Thurs 21st - I had some awesome homemade sorbet after Institute and a good old fashion chat with a group of friends. Awesome fun and very insightful.

Fri 22nd - I had a girls night at Kat's house. It is truly amazing there. We watched a movie, used some homemade face masks :D Always fun. Chatted. Squished into one bed...Hello middle girl! and just enjoyed time together. We even played the Game of Life...didn't have the best life that time around...thankful that wasn't reality!

Sat 23rd - Had breakfast with Kat and Jess...homemade waffles :D DELIGHT! Then headed out for the annual YSA camp. Had a flour bomb capture the flag game and dance that night.

Sun 24th - Easter Sunday. Well I had an amazing day. There was church in the morning, followed by an amazing lunch! Thank you Sean and Lisa!! Followed by my favourite fun part of Easter, the egg hunt! Agggghhhh I just love it! Got some good eggs too :D Then we had workshops in the afternoon...after which I was able to duck out and have dinner with 2 of my bros, their wives, my niece and nephew and my brothers in-laws. Then it was back to camp for the Testimony meeting, camp fire style. It's hard to explain spiritual things to people, they have to feel it for themselves to know. So trust me when I say it was amazing.

Mon 25th - bright and early start for Anzac Day dawn services. I like that I have been able to go to these more and more over the years. I really appreciate living in a free country and there are so many people that have fought to provide that for me. Then we cleaned up Mount Nelson Primary School's yard. I got to use the wheelbarrow :D I love it. Then I got to spend the rest of the day with my family. Which is always fun!

Tues 26th - I got my baby car fixed...she is running much better now. Such a blessing!! I also had the opportunity to walk from dropping her off and to pick her up. I think I need to walk more places. I was also able to go to the movies to see Thor...loved it :D

Today - well I think I should do a separate post for that.

So there's my recapped week.

But you may have noticed I didn't do Gratitude Sunday last week...that's because I didn't have internet while at camp...so this week I am going to recap all of the blessings from the two weeks...that's gonna be another big post.

Hope you made it through this :D

The Ultimate Gift

I just finished watching this movie:

WOW. I loved it! It sounds corny but it made me want to change...I saw that it was adapted from a book, so...

I ordered it off Book Depository. I am so excited!

I don't like giving away stories...so I can't say too much...

What I will say is that it has been an interesting contrast. It has made me realise that I need to go after my dreams and to help others as much as possible.

I love when movies or books or quotes etc can really make you think about things...not just skim the thoughts, but REALLY think about my life and what I can achieve.

So go...watch the movie. I can guarantee you'll love it...and if you don't...try watching it again :P

Quickflix

For Christmas I was given a gift voucher for Quickflix.

Seriously awesome gift for me...an avid movie lover!

Not being as busy at the moment it is perfect because I can watch as many movies as I want...well two at a time anyway.

I may be a little addicted :P

I just wish there was a drive in theatre near by...always wanted to go to one of those.

Brief Update and Incomplete Endings

I got home this morning from a little roadtrip to and from Convention. More on that in a later post...

On the way home...when I wasn't driving...I borrowed my sister's book: Torn Apart by Diony George. I could not put it down! I absolutely loved it because I felt like I was there in the story and a part of all the ups and downs. The story shows the destructive power of pornography and how it destroyed a marriage and family. I in no way agree with pornography and completely discourage anyone from using it. It is a horrible business.

Tonight after I had finished the book I decided to watch a movie and I am all for watching something I haven't seen before. I chose to watch a movie called "Coach" starring Hugh Dancy. One thing I hate about movies is the open endings....I love it but it also really bugs me! This one had an interesting ending (don't worry I won't spoil it and if you wanna see it you can watch it yourself) and I'm not sure what to think about it. Part of me loves the suspense, the other part hates it. Love it or hate it...the ending is what really counts...am I right? The beginning catches our attention, the middle is wonderful but we always want to know the ending...good or bad.
