Goals - A New Project

Goals work perfectly for me.
If I have something to work towards I often work so much harder towards it.

So...
each week I am going to make a simple goal for myself.
It may be something I have to do everyday,
it may be something to be done during that week...
it will all depend on how I'm feeling and what I want to try and accomplish.

This week my goal is to simply drink 1.5L of water each day

Do you like to work with goals?
What works best for you?
Any tips for me?

Accountable

March:

So I achieved a total of 1/4 goals for March...oops! FAIL!
I came close to achieving a couple others, but just fell a little short.

I must admit, I could have done more to achieve them and will be trying harder this month.

April:

This months goals are...

- Any increase in page views from March's stats
- Guest Post x2
- Get to 40 'likes' on Facebook
- Post at least 4 times per week

So there we have the 4 goals for this month.
If you can help me achieve any of them that would be greatly appreciated! :D

And as always I appreciate you reading this here slice of my life!

Quotes and Words...

via

How very true this is!
On Sunday I was thinking a lot about how I want and I think to some degree need to start recording more events in my life.
I want to start writing in my journal again, taking more pictures and scrapbooking more.

I know that this blog is like a journal for me, but writing it down in a book and recording some of my deepest thoughts just seems like something more private and special.

I like to think that one day my children or grandchildren will read some of the things I have written and get more of an insight into who I am.

While I feel far from gifted at writing, I am going to make more of an effort!
Wish me luck :D

Working and Guesting...

Most days this week I have been working...either one or both of my jobs.

You see I really want to travel (have I only mentioned this like a million times by now??), especially to Europe and so I need the major $$$.

Hence the constant working. It's not all bad though.

I am also over at Catherine's blog today talking about 10 Things that Make Me Happy.

Take a second to have a look and say Hi to Catherine for me! :D

2 weeks

It's been 2 weeks since I returned from Japan...
this is rather a depressing thought :'(

I loved my time in Japan!!

So today I present to you just some of the many things that I learnt while in Japan...in no particular order!

1. Being stared at for an average of 1.5 hours a day on a train and countless times while walking around helps you to get over your insecurities and just roll with the whole situation.

2. Learning a language while in the country that speaks that language is the BEST way to do it! I can not even explain how much you pick up just being there!

3. Be more adventurous with food. Sure there are times when this comes back to bite you but in most cases I got to try some amazing food.

4. Be more adventurous in general! I found that I was a bit more confident in Japan and was more willing to try out new things. It's good to be outside your comfort zone. Occasionally :D

5. You get out what you put in. I realised how much effort I should have been putting in earlier! Especially with studying the language and really getting the basics cemented in my head. Would have helped me out a lot more in situations. It also helped me to get motivated to study harder this year.

6. Making mistakes is ok. I made plenty while in Japan. I also just learnt to laugh it off and when you don't know how to say something...just try...or look it up in the dictionary and go from there.

7. Everything can have a little musical tune attached to it... I swear SO MANY things had little tunes in Japan. The street crossings, the vending machines, the school clock, the real estate agent down the street...so many things! I had a love/hate relationship with this. I loved it...but then sometimes it starts to get on your nerves...such is life.

8. Hand gestures and body language can be your best friend! There were times when my hands were doing the talking in trying to describe what I wanted etc. Judging people's body language is also very useful...particularly when selecting people to stop and ask questions.

9. Some times acting like a tourist when you are one can be a lot of fun! Plus you can get away with doing weird things and not caring what people think.

10. Life is meant to be lived. I really realised that the things that I want to do while I am young and don't have children need to be done now. I am quite free at this point in my life and I really want to take advantage of it. I changed some of my goals and had a lot of time to really think about the things that I want to do.

These are only a few of the things that I learnt from my 5 weeks in Japan. It has been a real eye opener to me and has changed me for the good.

As the year is coming to an end I have been evaluating my life...as most people do this time of year...and have made some plans and have some ideas flying around.

Over the next year you will be hearing about them.

Not long now till 2012...bring it on!

A little secret...

I'll let you in on a few little secrets...

- Japan has changed me, in a good way. (More on this at a later date)
- I have a burning desire to go to Europe and travel the world.

Let's talk about the second one for a moment.

I have been very lucky to have been to 6 countries around the world in my 20 years. I am extremely blessed to have parents who wanted me to see the world. When I was younger, we had a chart on the fridge that would mark the amount of money we had saved towards our family dream of going to Disneyland one day.

We finally did that in 2002 and it was an amazing experience to have together. It is from this moment on that the bite from the travel bug hit.

I love experiencing new cultures. Trying new food...even if I nearly do vomit. Communicating with others who have lived a completely different life.

There is just something about travelling. So now that I have the goal of going to Europe in the next 18months, I have a lot of work to do.

I have already started saving and have the beginnings of a plan.

I hope everything works out.

Let me know where you've been in the world! I love hearing people's travel stories.

The Impending Return

So it's not all that long until I return to Uni and I am kinda scared. Taking time off was a big but quick decision so going back is going to be weird.

Sometimes I just want to be back at Uni finishing off my course and other times I want to run away from it all and crawl in a hole.

Has anyone else felt like this?
Or am I alone in this???

I'm gonna focus on the positive and go in guns blazing and blitz this thing!

Life is so hard sometimes...too many decisions!

Changes

I have some HUGE changes going on...

I made the very scary decision to leave Uni for at least a semester.
It might not seem like such a big deal, but seriously to me it is.

In a way, being a student defined me.

I have been trying to deal with a whole lot of other things and Uni was just adding to the stress.

Now I am trying to find extra work, change habits, be a better person and sort out issues with people.

Life gets really complicated sometimes and I needed a break to focus on some things.

I've made the decision I feel is right for me, but it is still scary.

Here's to making progress and moving forward.

2011 - random ramblings

2011 will be MY year!!
It's gonna happen people...you just wait and see. This year I will be more organised so I can get things done. I am such a bad procrastinator and I really want to change my ways. I want to be more prepared so I can have order in my life and really achieve some goals.
I want to eat less chocolate and drink more water...yes I did just eat a piece of chocolate but I did follow it with a big drink of water :D
I want to graduate! Provided I make up an extra subject somewhere along the way.
I want to decide if a mission is the way to go next year.
I am super excited to become an aunty for the 2nd time and also gain another sister in law.
I hope to become a better person, while still maintaining all that is me :D
I want to put more effort into this blog, but not at the expense of living my life in the real world.
They say change is as good as a holiday and since I am unable to afford one this year (can't believe it's almost a year since I went on my first solo adventure and I still haven't blogged about it...slack!), change is gonna be good for me! :D
So here is to 2011 and all the random ramblings that you may just have to endure...
P.S thanks to those that follow my blog and actually read about my random life :D
